Asymmetry for mirror flows statistics - coefficient

Difference or absolute difference of inbound and outbound flows between a pair of countries divided by the average of these two values.

Outbound and inbound flows should be considered to be any kind of flows specific to each subject matter domain (amounts of products traded, number of people visiting a country for tourism purposes, etc.). In domains where mirror statistics are available it is possible to assess geographical comparability measuring the discrepancies between inbound and outbound flows for pairs of countries. Mirror data can help checking the consistency of data reporting, of data, of the reporting process and the definitions used. Finally, they can help to estimate missing data. For the users the asymmetries indicators provide some indication of overall data credibility.
